Holiday Inn Express Bilbao Airport, an IHG Hotel

I took the 5 am shuttle so had no time for more than coffee and orange juice. But the restaurant which is only adjacent and not a part of the hotel was important in my stay. I had a very nice lunch on Monday after 2 (Pollo and mushrooms) and a good evening at the bar Monday evening. I had a beer and was about to leave (9;15 pm) when I struck up a fine conversation with an Austrian tourist group leader. He has stayed at the Holiday Inn Express numerous times but this time was in the new (?) one across the field. The Urbe is an asset even if not a part.

nice, clean and modern. nice breakfast that starts early enough to catch before the first shuttle to the airport. the restaurant next door is also perfect for dinner without having to leave the hotel. however the highlight of our stay was one receptionist, Miguel. His smile made us feel welcome right away, and he really went out of his way to give us a great experience even during the short time we were there. he gave us some fabulous recommendations for getting the best views of Bilbao, which honestly gave our trip the perfect ending. thanks again Miguel! :)

excellent location for an early flight the next day -5 minute shuttle to airport. breakfast looked like it was good (they were going to have a tortilla -my favorite!) but it didn’t open until 5 when we were leaving for the airport. however, they had the cold items ready so offered us those before we left (sliced meats and cheeses, yogurts, breads) plus juices and coffee, so that was a very nice unexpected bonus.

Very convenient to airport. Clean, very comfortable room (I appreciated the bathtub for a good soak after traveling for 2 days). Friendly and helpful staff. Seemed like the breakfast had a lot of variety and healthy options, although I just had coffee.

The location is perfect for a short stay in connection for an early or late flight. Convenient for picking up / dropping off a rental car around the airport.
